'In my sculptural work, I always strive to follow the ancient understanding of beauty and harmony. I was brought up in the traditions of academic art for me, the highest manifestation of human genius is an ancient sculpture. The ancient Greeks chose the human body as a measure of beauty to embody the idea of harmony. In my opinion, this is very appropriate, the language of figurative art is understandable to everyone. This language is universal.
It is important to show some degree of miraculous performance. I also guess that the sculpture should look quite contrasting - polished surfaces and rough chips. To emphasize the beauty of the human body, sometimes I turn to the theme of death. I'm not trying to create something depressing, but rather to show that beauty and death go side by side, like images. Death without drama, perhaps even with humour'
